NEW YEAR WITH BLESSINGS

Welcome and well-done to the well born new year

Well born new year infusing strength to our veins

2025, the year we yearned for with quests and zest

Our zest and quests that shine now in the present

A present that can deflate any woo of woe as well

But what is so new about the so called new year

Our tropical trees and green flowers are in place

The level lands and fertile farms are still the same

Proxemics of our house and church look the same

But alas, all are now anew in the new time and year

Now stand, shine and oh, let good deeds also swell

As we ably breeze in to this pleasant flame of hope

Hope never to wail but to win and win and to cope

Not yet late to pray, wishing you fine new blessings

Of a brilliant and happy new year of fine findings!

Easter Victory Poem https://eugenicanthology.com/easter-victory-poem/ https://eugenicanthology.com/easter-victory-poem/#respond Tue, 29 Apr 2025 12:22:45 +0000 http://localhost/emma/wordpress/?p=2235 IN 2024, FR. EUGENE WROTE AN EASTER VICTORY POEM WITH MARIA AND EUCHARISTIC UNDERTONE. IN THIS POESY, A PICTURE WAS PAINTED, NOT ONLY AS A VICTORY OF CHRIST OVER EVIL, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, ONE WHOSE EFFICACIOUS POWER SPLASHES OUT UPON HIS FAMILY, WHICH IS THE CHURCH AND US.

The Marian Tree

There is a unique, powerful tree

Germinated from the natural soils of the earth

The roots sank intently into the divine depth

Greenish, super-productive, more a flower than tree

Her feminine arms stretched out, a worthy shade

While its efflorescence looks up steadily to the sky

Our elegant, virgin queen tree of life, so nigh

Not like the sure visions of the ancient great saints

Or other mental pictures of soaring imaginations

But perfect that many find underneath a cool base

Such loyal that it was worthy of a divine selection

Alas, a gentle breeze and cruise blew it in a minute

And since she totally agreed with the divine agreement

The shoot thrusted forth and flowered with a fruit

The special fruit ripened in time, a spectacle to behold

Suddenly, an evil wind of fate broke out and opposed

Seven eerie daggers pierced the heart of the tree

The precious fruit broke off and fell on the ground

All those under the tree wailed and lost their grip

T’was  then known, the fruit is as well the bread of life

Upon which to feed all the people and nations to survive

But on the third day a new news gathered momentum

That seeds of the fruit had sprout alive again and risen

Re- germinated with power and vigor as victor too

That He has won and won every opposing power, risen

And the queen tree is now the mother of the savior too

Then songs of victory chorused around the tree of life

While children rallied around as the victor family of life

Witty songs say: those who stumble while doing charity

Now know that to fall on divine grounds is to rise

And those who look up above and receive threats of life

Now know it’s better to die in order to live or rise

And those who obsessively learn and research for clarity

Now know every human task has to be green, pro-life

And that carrying well our cross can pay a gold crown

Then, with deafening noise, the strange wind popped back

Like an unguarded tour,  crashed back with threats to attack

Many singers ran back to the coddle of the maternal tree

The Marian tree now spoke in subtle and strong decree

Of course you know Him my fruit, who He is, my son, ah

The eternal conqueror, the Lion of the tribe of Judah

Instantly a fierce roar was heard from afar off away

And swiftly the eerie winds and their master faded away

Then the sweet Easter songs re-switched re-chorused

It does not matter even if they threaten again to fight

For Christ the winner has won, our bread of life

The fruit seeds got planted and ‘twas born the church

Branches fled to churches and homes as decors of fortune

And graduates can now wear the green leaves to be pro-life

For saved we are from gloomy doom to a boosty boom

BISHOP, MILD AND KIND https://eugenicanthology.com/bishop-mild-and-kind/ https://eugenicanthology.com/bishop-mild-and-kind/#respond Tue, 01 Apr 2025 11:38:39 +0000 http://localhost/emma/wordpress/?p=2185 In 2015, Fr. Eugene wrote an elegy on the life of our late Bishop Ezeonyia. He decides to share the poem, hoping it may inspire one or two who may like to write about the late bishop, as directed in Aba.

BISHOP, MILD AND KIND

We had a Bishop very meek and mild at heart

Was gifted with two hair textures white and black

Front white hair for wisdom and the black showing origin

A bishop known for a prestigious awe, speaking classics

Do you recall his three voice tones varying greatly

The high tone to stress a point, a soft one for exhorting

There was another strong base for explaining and reproofing

At times he unveiled annoyance for no double living

But stayed with priests at their deep moments of sorrow

Made mistakes especially when they came manipulating

Ezeonyia built Catholic Schools as many as forty four

Schools that made Ngwa kids lose former Catholic phobia

Simply because now their own school head is Rev. Father

Vincent was always found in our smaller churches visiting

Led many young priests to a diversification of talents

Indeed, a mixture of Aba Ngwa and Anambra talents

Valentine always bears the staff as first Bishop of Aba

Bishop Egwu was a name without much publicity, yes

Yet remaining a big icon of known emotional intelligence

Loved God praying before the Blessed Sacrament, hours

Loved to celebrate mass with unction and solemnity

Instructed that Priests must follow the Roman rubrics

And houses are not more important than faith for him

Rather that faith builds big houses for God Almighty

Intoto he looks like a child of God, God help him be!

Thanks a bunch my Lord and goodbye, praying for us.

Poem: My BABY https://eugenicanthology.com/poem-ny-baby/ https://eugenicanthology.com/poem-ny-baby/#respond Mon, 31 Mar 2025 12:45:22 +0000 http://localhost/emma/wordpress/?p=2178 IN THIS SIMPLE POETIC WORK, FR. EUGENE REFLECTS OVER THE FACT THAT EVERY ADULT BEGANAS A LITTLE CHILD.

MY BABY

You have a mild and a kind baby

The child you saw the day you were born

Now has grown as if no more a baby

Since God sent you to this world as a child

Fully grown, now we ask, where is your baby

Hope the sweet baby is still alive

Then never mind to let go like a child at times

And to giggle and play awhile like a baby

Then mind not to chat and laugh child-like

And to sing and hum awhile like a child

Is your young chap still alive and new

To know, visit your true friend far or nigh

Only your lover can awake the baby in you

There you joke and play like your child

And awhile rest or sleep off like a baby

By all means do not kill that little kid

Hates not work is toxic to your child

Or even tends to bring out the beast

Your baby lives very close to the beast

But only care can keep your fragile child

So see whether love can work at first

Since for humans only love works aright

Try to wash the baby and throw the dirty water

Throw not the baby and the dirty water away

The baby is your baby; dirty water is dirty water.

Never a good thing not to feel a baby at all

No matter who you are, first you’re a baby

When you’re sick, you return to a baby

When old or weak you turn to a baby again

And become the child of your children then

Since God made you first a baby

At times pray, learn and like a child cry

Do not be a bad child, the teacher’s worry

Beware, the beast is a man of this world

While the baby is the sweet chap of heaven

Harmonized Differences https://eugenicanthology.com/harmonized-differences/ https://eugenicanthology.com/harmonized-differences/#respond Mon, 24 Mar 2025 14:18:46 +0000 http://localhost/emma/wordpress/?p=2142 Fr. Eugene thinks that, management of differences is going to be the major problem of the 21st Century, and so he wrote this poem.

Harmonized Differences

Humans are not the same and cannot be the same

Differences abound in colors, tongue, learning and age

In values we differ and in wishes we continue to differ

Success is not the same thing for every human desire

Some succeed as lawyers, others as Doctors or teachers

Yet success is nothing but success, no more no less

21st century education likes the child who speaks up

Good or bad, being assertive is better than being numb

The internet of things today tries to bind us together

But its time to ask, is the world ready to be together

Our era despises, looks down on tradition as poor

Yes, a thousand children now dare the status quo

The only good thing there, is their life of confidence

Neo-techs are the buzz like the Artificial Intelligence

Innovation is the lingua and the old cargos wonder

Today, what is Art and what is science and technology

Fine Art, Music, Drama and Management are digitized

The world differs in the learning experiences of the child

In innovation, collaboration gets differences harmonized

Then why tarry to find a simple frying machine for garri

Oh, let the new age see the old age with humble looks

There are positive and negative differences, then choose

Love attracts from differences, hate frowns at differences

But you can make a difference from immense differences

The Church, Sports are the differences that tend to bind us

As tech-age drags to connect the vast earth from Cloud

Yes, with our much differences, we can for life dialogue

If we can’t be the other, we can the other complement

Struggling to be the diverse faces of Jesus, the Christ

That’s how to swim across the pool of our differences

LENT AND MARY https://eugenicanthology.com/lent-and-mary/ https://eugenicanthology.com/lent-and-mary/#respond Thu, 20 Mar 2025 19:26:56 +0000 http://localhost/emma/wordpress/?p=2118 Here, Fr. Alozie Eugene I. Poetizes on a discovered deep relationship between Lent and the Holy Mary

LENT AND MARY

No holy mother ever collaborates with an evil child.

But the Holy Mary met with Jesus on the way to Golgotha

Insinuating that family has issue with the ordeals of the child.

So the presence of the Holiest Mother on the way to Golgotha.

Really smells how holy are the child and his cross

Behold She in dazzling mantles of her glory.

Clothed in purity aglow with loving mercy so holy.

Staggering now in pains along the rocky way.

Bathed in Ocean of tears and piercing sorrows to sway.

Thus telling all and sundry to follow the way of the cross.

This match of Mary, holiest mother and virgin.

Worn and torn with the son, appears mission driven.

For even she was once forced to flee to Egypt to save him.

Points a finger, not just to collaborate with him.

But mirrors future Christians carry the same burden.

Mary’s body and mantle sparkled in lights and blood.

As her holy presence announces the fecundity of the cross.

And when the son and mother glanced at each without a word.

Her heart tore realizing its her own flesh and blood in dross.

Then the queen of Angels wept not saying a word.

LENTEN POEM https://eugenicanthology.com/lenten-poem/ https://eugenicanthology.com/lenten-poem/#respond Thu, 20 Mar 2025 18:59:57 +0000 http://localhost/emma/wordpress/?p=2115 Lenten Poem

Lent is a time to look and see life as deeper

That life sure has two sides of the same coin

A side that smiles today, tomorrow glooms

Wearing double faces of despair and laughter

And we Christians saw the both in our Master

It can mean that work comes before luck

That study comes before a good result

It means cross comes before the crown

That for us to live longer we have to die

And these we saw in our master’s life

Tech may not remove all sufferings intoto

At times roadblocks become stepping stones

As if to say we dig to discover things new

Even answering our calling is to carry cross

And these in the life of our master we saw

Does life turn you upside down at times

Its for you to see the down side mysteries

Have you labored for ingratitude at times

It is that you be paid by the justice to come

And these are what we saw in our master

We are taught to pass but at times we failed

We tend to move on at times we have to wait

We want to look up but forced to look down

We want to jolly but hear the noise of worry

And this bitter wine to our master was given

In lent we teach of the other side of the coin

About times for sweet and for medicine

And that we are not always in control

Before we walk or run we have to toddle

And life was the same for even Jesus the Lord

Your child has to know the other side of life

That today we are quiet tomorrow we can talk

Today can be alone, later we are loved, praised

That every ill is a time to learn and forge ahead

In Lent world flags come low for the way of Christ
